Understanding by means of properly formulated models the energy consumption of an industrial device is the first step towards the reduction of the impact of energy usage by industry. The aim of this work is the development of a simple procedure that can lead to the determination of a rather accurate model of the energy consumption of an independent cart conveyor system with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Linear Motor such as the B &R ACOPOStrak. The modeling is built by a linear regression of measurement data that represent the electric energy intake from the power distribution system, thus taking into account the energy consumption of the whole device.

Abstract
