In the last decades, we have seen an expansion in the focus and goals of career education programmes and the strengthening of different theoretical and empirical approaches, which emphasise how development expresses itself and the role of contextual factors and, more recently, their integration into the developmental perspectives of the whole child. After summarising the actions and programmes that have their foundations in these choices and approaches, the attention will shift to programmes conveying an integrative perspective in career education. Two educational paths will be presented. The first, Systems of Thrust, is more oriented to a systemic perspective, discovering the positive contribution of each individual and networking system in reaching personal and common goals; the second, the Sustainability Agenda, is instead aimed at discovering personal strengths and potential future roles within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda. Finally, implications for career practitioners involved in educational contexts will be proposed.
