Excavations carried out by the University of Padua on the site of the Insula of the Wounded Beasts (Aquileia) have uncovered a large part of the domus that occupied the center of this district. Numerous pavements of different chronologies, sizes and types were discovered. We present here the main mosaics brought to light during the latest excavation campaigns. Most of the pavements date from the 1st century A.D. are presented here according to the subdivisions of the ancient insula: the majority are documented by fragments, however two triclinia pavements, stand out for their state of preservation and decoration. The article concludes with a concise account of the technical characteristics and composition of the preparatory layers of the pavements.
