Carla Lonzi e gli anni Novanta: appunti per una storia dimenticata

This paper aims to reconstruct Carla Lonzi’s critical fortune in Italy in the decade of the 1990s. Carla Lonzi has been at the centre of a rediscovery by the art world for about a decade now. The aim is to show how, even before the recent rediscovery, she was present in the art world in a decade such as the 1990s. Two case studies will be considered: the exhibition dedicated to her at the 1993 Art Biennale and the book Rrragazze published in 1996. It will be seen which of the two moments of Carla Lonzi’s activity is privileged, whether the period as an art critic or as a feminist: if in fact in that decade the reception of Carla Lonzi as a feminist still appears complex, due to a general detachment towards feminist instances, her activity as an art critic is beginning to be recovered, or perhaps had never been forgotten.
