The silvicultural management of chestnut coppices can contribute to the social and economic promotion of mountain and rural marginal areas. In this note, are described possible technical options for preserving coppice systems and for implementing innovative approaches for producing quality timber. These can be selected in relation to economical frame conditions and objectives, as well as on the bases of environmental constraints (e.g., site conditions, stand structure).
