Abstract
This paper offers a reflection on the enigmatic singer with the lira among the animals painted in the medieval veil in the Basilica of Aquileia's crypt. Historical-artistic criticism has outlined two divergent interpretative hypotheses aimed at identifying the subject as the pagan Orpheus or David Psalmist. In the perspective of providing a correct reading of the image, we want to investigate the iconographic fortune of the singer in the ancient and medieval repertoire.File in questo prodotto:
