In the judgment delivered on 3 December 2015 in Case C-301/14, the Court of Justice of the European Union clarified the divide between the rules applicable to the intra-EU trade of live animals and to non-commercial movement of pet animals, interpreting the notion of economic activity in the light of internal market case law.
