Introduction

This is the introduction to the volume dedicated to Carol Taylor Torsello entitled "A lifetime of English Studies. Essays in honour of Carol Taylor Torsello". The contributors to this volume are friends, colleagues and former students of Carol Torsello Taylor's from many Italian universities who kindly agreed to write about their research as a tribute to her. The topics range from language teaching/learning and language education, through curriculum design, testing and teacher training, to corpus linguistics, English lexico-grammar and textuality, and English literature. The essays are grouped under four headings: linguistics, language teaching, translation and literature and culture.
