This paper deals with thermal analysis coupled with the finite element analysis of electric machines. The rated torque of an electrical machine is limited by the maximum temperature rise of the materials used, in particular the insulating and permanent magnet materials. In addition, the electrical machines performance is strongly affected by the operating temperature. This paper presents a general approach to simultaneous thermal and FE computation of electrical machines. The thermal analysis is based on the object oriented programming (OOP), so that it allows different types of electrical machines to be easily analyzed. The main key concepts and mechanisms of the OOP are briefly described, some examples will illustrate the theory.

Abstract
This paper deals with thermal analysis coupled with the finite element analysis of electric machines. The rated torque of an electrical machine is limited by the maximum temperature rise of the materials used, in particular the insulating and permanent magnet materials. In addition, the electrical machines performance is strongly affected by the operating temperature. This paper presents a general approach to simultaneous thermal and FE computation of electrical machines. The thermal analysis is based on the object oriented programming (OOP), so that it allows different types of electrical machines to be easily analyzed. The main key concepts and mechanisms of the OOP are briefly described, some examples will illustrate the theory.Pubblicazioni consigliate
