Abstract

In the last few years the quality of electricity has become a matter of growing concern for both distributors and consumers. The former have to guarantee a high standard of the supply while the latter have to safeguard their own installations. However, for each specific case, appropriate corrective actions may only be taken provided there is a sound knowledge of nature and characteristics of the disturbing phenomena affecting the quality of the supply. This paper describes a new measuring system which has been specifically designed for continuous monitoring of power quality levels in MV distribution networks. The System comprises the voltage and current transducers, A/D conversion and on-site statistical manipulation of the data.
