In the present work a simplified and flexible procedure is presented for assessing the performance of automatic voltage controls on power systems. In the hypothesis of active/reactive decoupling and system linearization, the approach, based on the use of transfer matrixes, is suitable for planning and optimizing the voltage control in power systems of any size and with regulators of any complexity. A frequency analysis response technique is employed for the numerical solution of the complete matrix system. Examples of application of the proposed procedure on a case study are given.

Abstract

In the present work a simplified and flexible procedure is presented for assessing the performance of automatic voltage controls on power systems. In the hypothesis of active/reactive decoupling and system linearization, the approach, based on the use of transfer matrixes, is suitable for planning and optimizing the voltage control in power systems of any size and with regulators of any complexity. A frequency analysis response technique is employed for the numerical solution of the complete matrix system. Examples of application of the proposed procedure on a case study are given.
