We have measured thermionic emission of electrons through the liquid/vapor interface of Ar at the normal boiling point. The minimum energy V(O) of the conduction band of the electrons in liquid Ar has been determined and it has been found to be V(O) congruent-to 126 meV below the level in vacuo. Our result is in good agreement with literature data if the latter are corrected for contamination effects.
