This paper has a twofold meaning: from a side it would like to introduce a new subject (history of kin groups) as matter of debate between historians and archeologists of the early middles ages and genetists. On the other side, it shows how the study of a particular category – the unmarried women ‘in capillo’ of the 8 century in Lombard Italy – can be very useful to understand the different relationship between a father and his daughters and the different characteristics (of property, visibility and dress) that were developed in Italy during the reign king Liutprand. It also suggests a possible archeological interpretation for some Italian funerary contexts of the Lombard period.

Abstract
This paper has a twofold meaning: from a side it would like to introduce a new subject (history of kin groups) as matter of debate between historians and archeologists of the early middles ages and genetists. On the other side, it shows how the study of a particular category – the unmarried women ‘in capillo’ of the 8 century in Lombard Italy – can be very useful to understand the different relationship between a father and his daughters and the different characteristics (of property, visibility and dress) that were developed in Italy during the reign king Liutprand. It also suggests a possible archeological interpretation for some Italian funerary contexts of the Lombard period.Pubblicazioni consigliate
