The birth of a child with a disability entails the revision of roles and a consideration of the partners’ tasks and activities, the reallocation of financial resources, and a whole range of new behaviors to cope with the needs of the newcomer. It is important to analyze the quality of life experienced by parents and families of children with disabilities. The perception of quality of life is obviously affected by the diverse difficulties children may show. The authors examined the efficacy of personalized and specific interventions of parent training aimed at improving the quality of life of families with disabled children. They found that parents who have benefited from these interventions showed increments in their knowledge of educational principles and in their levels of well-being and satisfaction.
