Diagnosis and strengthening of the historic town walls of Cittadella

In the present contribution, the repair works on the medieval town walls of Cittadella are described. The consolidation of the walls was necessary and urgent due to the evidence and the progressive deterioration of a complex damage condition. The causes of damage were investigated and some repair interventions were designed and progressively executed. Both local repairs, aimed at strengthening the masonry structures, and global reinforcing measures, executed to improve the structural performances and to ensure structural safety, were applied. Finally, NDT were used to evaluate the effectiveness of grout injections.
