This paper tries to give an account of the in progress tentative to introduce an innovative technological and organizational model into the ICT (Information communication technology) architecture and structure of the University of Padova. The process has been started from the technical staff to cope with difficulties coming from a highly scattered knowledge landscape and implies the building of a social network, including the identification of its structure, tools, methods, goals, limits, governance. The initiative, significantly named “dreams” and its community has quickly been accepted and fostered by the university management, but some concerns remain about resources allocation (esp. Staff). The aim of the project is to find solutions to common problems and to share them among the ICT staff, to make tacit knowledge emerge, along with the competence.
