HARNESS is an experimental Java-centric metacomputing system based upon the principle of dynamic reconfigurability not only in terms of the computers and networks that comprise the virtual machine, but also in the capabilities of the VM itself. In HARNESS, as in any other metacomputing systems, providing a consistent naming is a fundamental issue and the naming service is a pillar for any other service provided. HARNESS provides a two level naming scheme that separates virtual machine names from service names. In this paper we describe a simple yet fault tolerant implementation of the naming service dedicated to virtual machine names.

Abstract
HARNESS is an experimental Java-centric metacomputing system based upon the principle of dynamic reconfigurability not only in terms of the computers and networks that comprise the virtual machine, but also in the capabilities of the VM itself. In HARNESS, as in any other metacomputing systems, providing a consistent naming is a fundamental issue and the naming service is a pillar for any other service provided. HARNESS provides a two level naming scheme that separates virtual machine names from service names. In this paper we describe a simple yet fault tolerant implementation of the naming service dedicated to virtual machine names.File in questo prodotto:
