In this commentary, key issues pertaining to research on persuasion and conceptual change are described. To link these two separate lines of research, several questions are raised and addressed. They concern the legitimacy and aims of persuasive discourse in educational contexts, the complex interplay of message and person characteristics, and the integration of different research methods to be used for an in-depth investigation of the processes and products of change through persuasion. The chapter ends with a discussion of the issues drawn from the outcomes of these studies that are worthy of further exploration.
