Structure-preserving schemes have emerged as a powerful tool for simulating compressible, wall-bounded turbulence, offering improved robustness and physical fidelity. Abstract

Structure-preserving schemes have emerged as a powerful tool for simulating compressible, wall-bounded turbulence, offering improved robustness and physical fidelity. By preserving key invariants—such as kinetic energy and entropy—at the discrete level, these methods enhance numerical stability and accuracy in challenging flow regimes. This work evaluates the performance of a high-order, GPU-accelerated solver employing entropy-conservative and kinetic-energy-preserving fluxes in DNS and LES of turbulent boundary layers. Results demonstrate improved alignment with benchmark data and highlight the potential of structure-preserving schemes in capturing complex interactions between compressibility, turbulence, and wall effects in high-fidelity simulations.
