Moving beyond the opposition between surveillance and counter-mapping, this entry highlights how maps function as visual representations, border technologies, navigational tools, and affective companions. By examining the intersections of cartography, migration, and mobility, it argues that migration cartographies refer not only to maps of migration but also to the circulation, uses, and political effects of maps across different media and contexts.
