In a context, such as the prison environment, marked by stressful living conditions, resilience represents a crucial resource to understand how detained people can maintain their psychological well-being. This study assesses resilience in 48 men: 24 inmates and 24 controls from the prison environment in Northern Italy, by translating the Resilience Measurement Scale (RMS-25) into Italian. Results show that higher resilience levels are central for mental health in the prison population. These findings highlight the importance of psychological support in penal institutions and suggest that resilience may also aid in the early identification of those most at risk for psychopathology or suicide.

Abstract
In a context, such as the prison environment, marked by stressful living conditions, resilience represents a crucial resource to understand how detained people can maintain their psychological well-being. This study assesses resilience in 48 men: 24 inmates and 24 controls from the prison environment in Northern Italy, by translating the Resilience Measurement Scale (RMS-25) into Italian. Results show that higher resilience levels are central for mental health in the prison population. These findings highlight the importance of psychological support in penal institutions and suggest that resilience may also aid in the early identification of those most at risk for psychopathology or suicide.Pubblicazioni consigliate
