The original of a document previously known only through a partial and highly inaccurate transcription made in the first half of the 19th century by local scholar Francesco Nicolli has been found in the rich archive of St. Antonino of Piacenza. It is a deed of exchange, dating back to the first half of the 9th century and belonging to the more extensive and well-studied dossier of the sculdassius Peter of Niviano. Starting from the new edition of the document, relating to Raginulf, father of Ragimberga, Peter’s wife, it has been possible to reconstruct the continuity of land strategies and the creation of a social network prior to the appearance on the scene of Peter of Niviano. Furthermore, the inclusion in the dossier of other private documents from the 10th century, not taken in consideration until now, highlights the central role of women both in the transfer of property and in improving their position within the local elite.

Abstract
Furthermore, the inclusion in the dossier of other private documents from the 10th century, not taken in consideration until now, highlights the central role of women both in the transfer of property and in improving their position within the local elite.Pubblicazioni consigliate
