Pianificazione forestale di area vasta in Italia: analisi, evidenze operative e proposte

Italy’s most recent national forest law not only opens the way to national-level technical harmonisation of forest planning instruments but also recognises the territorial level as a relevant scale for forest planning, through forest territorial plans. These plans are designed to coordinate forest management plans at forest holding level and promote integration with the other territorial, landscape and environmental planning instruments. Moreover, they define, at broad scale, the intervention priorities to protect, manage and enhance forests and pastures from the environmental, economic and socio-cultural point of view, ensuring the involvement of the stakeholders. The present contribution proposes an analysis of their state of implementation, structured as a critical commentary, highlighting critical issues and opportunities in the light of the operational experiences following the adoption of the implementing decrees.
