This article aims to explore some aspects of the cybernetic notion of organisation from a critical perspective. The analysis will take as its starting point the thesis that cybernetics has ideologically solved the problems associated with the distinction between technical, biological, and social regulation through the notion of organisation. First, we will reconstruct the nature and development of the cybernetic notion of organisation. Secondly, we will show how this notion is reflected in the way contemporary political discourse deals with social regulation. Finally, based on the problems revealed by applying the cybernetic notion of the organization to society, we will offer some more general reflections and suggest a possible way in which the question of regulation can be posed anew beyond its ideological resolution by cybernetics.
