The aim of this paper is to present a discussion of the concept of art proposed by Isaac von Sinclair, especially in his main work, Wahrheit und Gewissheit. After an initial framing of his figure, thought, and theoretical premises of his aesthetic reflection, I focus on the central features of the concept of art, understood as «sensible sign» (sinnliches Zeichen), the union of «being-initself» (An-sich-Sein) and «being-one-for-another» (Für-einander-Sein), and the manifestation of the divine in the concrete world. Subsequently, I elaborate on the ideal dimensions of the work of art in Sinclair’s view while emphasizing his attention to the material aspect of artistic production. Finally, I address the division of the individual arts and conclude by summarizing the basic features of the perspective set forth and noting its original aspects.
