The article takes its starting point from an essay by Hasso Hofmann recently published in Italian (Immagini della pace ovvero la giustizia dimenticata, Milano-Udine, Mimesis, 2024), to develop some reflections on the marginalization of the question of justice in public law studies. Partly following the path outlined by Hofmann, the discussion focuses particularly on two representations of extraordinary philosophical and political significance: Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s Allegory of Good and Bad Government and the frontispiece of Leviathan. The primary interpretative lens adopted in the analysis of these two works is the dyad of peace and security, examined through the prism of the legal concept of representation.

Abstract
The article takes its starting point from an essay by Hasso Hofmann recently published in Italian (Immagini della pace ovvero la giustizia dimenticata, Milano-Udine, Mimesis, 2024), to develop some reflections on the marginalization of the question of justice in public law studies. Partly following the path outlined by Hofmann, the discussion focuses particularly on two representations of extraordinary philosophical and political significance: Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s Allegory of Good and Bad Government and the frontispiece of Leviathan. The primary interpretative lens adopted in the analysis of these two works is the dyad of peace and security, examined through the prism of the legal concept of representation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
