Addressing the imbalance between daytime and night-time-orientated studies about the city, Venice Nightscapes: Consuming, Living, Narrating provides a geographical investigation of Venice’s urban night. By focusing on nightscape co-production processes, this reflection delves into the ongoing, fleeting and reciprocal relations between bodies, objects, places and discourses shaping the interactions between evening and night-time economy, nocturnal social practices and night-themed narratives. As a result, this geographical investigation reveals the local urban night as a multifaceted and contradictory space–time and thus introduces the concept of genius noctis to critically interpret its distinctive features and their interdependencies.
