This chapter aims to describe some recent developments in irrigated agriculture in the Far North of Cameroon and Chad. After a brief overview of the events related to agricultural modernisation linked to irrigation in the Chadian region, the main results of the fieldwork conducted by Aboukar Mahamat and Dobah Marsala make it possible to identify the potential trajectories of ongoing territorial transformations. These traces—the afterlives of interventions, the visible signs and possible futures—highlight peasants' risks and opportunities, disillusions and hopes.

Abstract
This chapter aims to describe some recent developments in irrigated agriculture in the Far North of Cameroon and Chad. After a brief overview of the events related to agricultural modernisation linked to irrigation in the Chadian region, the main results of the fieldwork conducted by Aboukar Mahamat and Dobah Marsala make it possible to identify the potential trajectories of ongoing territorial transformations. These traces—the afterlives of interventions, the visible signs and possible futures—highlight peasants' risks and opportunities, disillusions and hopes.File in questo prodotto:
