This article examines a scholion on Pindar that discusses the Aegeidae. On the basis of an ultraviolet image of Vat. gr. 1312 (B), I show that the standard text as reconstructed by Drachmann is incorrect. The manuscript, which is difficult to read, contains no reference to Aegeidae originating from Phlegra. The error goes back to the editio princeps by Kallierges, who is known to have relied on B. Therefore, we must be careful when using Kallierges’ text as a stand-in for the damaged parts of B.
