Venetian religious architecture has always had a very strong memorial component, associated with local spatial models, lighting systems and certain building materials that have been used intermittently for centuries with some significant variations. In two different historical moments, this tradition was renewed and interpreted with a strategy of conscious ‘quotation’ of elements that were strongly identity based. Venice’s response was a creative use of citation, recovering traditional spatial models and identity from its lagoon culture.

Abstract
Venetian religious architecture has always had a very strong memorial component, associated with local spatial models, lighting systems and certain building materials that have been used intermittently for centuries with some significant variations. In two different historical moments, this tradition was renewed and interpreted with a strategy of conscious ‘quotation’ of elements that were strongly identity based. Venice’s response was a creative use of citation, recovering traditional spatial models and identity from its lagoon culture.File in questo prodotto:
