The paper shows the importance of The One and Oneness by introducing how al- Fārābī reworks Aristotelian sources through a series of examples. In particular, the following meanings of ‘one’ will be taken as sample cases: the one according to matter, the one which is called by two names, the one in that which subsists as one in number, species and genus.
