Between Final Bronze Age 3 and Early Iron Age 1, the centre of Gazzo Veronese, thanks to its control over a key point in the exchange system connecting the northern Alpine Urnfield sites and the Luco/Laugen region with the Po Valley, specifically with the pre-urban entities of western and southern Veneto, became a one of the principal interlocutors also for the Bologna area and Etruria. Starting from the detailed analysis of the fibula and razor from Grave 61 of the Ponte Nuovo cemetery, this paper focuses on this relatively unexplored topic, and proposes that these two exceptional artefacts reached Gazzo from southern Etruria – perhaps even without the mediation of Bologna – within the dynamics of the gift economy among the ruling élites.

Abstract
Between Final Bronze Age 3 and Early Iron Age 1, the centre of Gazzo Veronese, thanks to its control over a key point in the exchange system connecting the northern Alpine Urnfield sites and the Luco/Laugen region with the Po Valley, specifically with the pre-urban entities of western and southern Veneto, became a one of the principal interlocutors also for the Bologna area and Etruria. Starting from the detailed analysis of the fibula and razor from Grave 61 of the Ponte Nuovo cemetery, this paper focuses on this relatively unexplored topic, and proposes that these two exceptional artefacts reached Gazzo from southern Etruria – perhaps even without the mediation of Bologna – within the dynamics of the gift economy among the ruling élites.Pubblicazioni consigliate
