This study proposes a critical analysis of the main atypical labour ins‐ titutions strictly connected to the age of the worker: the traineeship, the appren‐ ticeship and the school-work alternation (now called «pathways of transversal competences and orientation», the so-called PCTO). In particular, possible ans‐ wers are proposed to the many questions that arise in this field in the light of the new rules introduced by the Italian and Community legislator within the framework of company organisation, attempting to solve both old and current problems ari‐ sing from the spread of these forms of personnel recruitment in the world of work which, due to their relevance on a practical level, have long since become one of the central themes in Italian jurisprudence. Furthermore, through a broader reflec‐ tion on the training of young people, emphasis will be placed on the relationship between education and work, analysing the institution of the PCTO in a compara‐ tive perspective with the French, Spanish and German models. The comparative research will be useful, also in a de iure condendo perspective, to address some crucial issues directly related to the employability of young people in the Italian labour market.

Abstract
The comparative research will be useful, also in a de iure condendo perspective, to address some crucial issues directly related to the employability of young people in the Italian labour market.Pubblicazioni consigliate
