The essay aims to analyse the architecture of the Cathedral of San Venanzio in Fabriano and its construction phases over a long period. The aim is to contextualise the construction of the tribune, with its chapels frescoed by Allegretto Nuzi, in the very complex events of a long and difficult building site and to identify the architectural models of a medieval building almost completely ignored by historiography because it was greatly transformed in the following centuries. Using traditional investigative tools (archive research, stratigraphic analysis of the building) and the methodology of digital humanities, the essay proposes a new dating of the building phases: the first Romanesque building in the mid-11th century, a Gothic phase in the mid-13th century, a 3rd one in the mid-14th century, a 4th one in the 15th century and a final one in the 17th-18th centuries.

Abstract
The essay aims to analyse the architecture of the Cathedral of San Venanzio in Fabriano and its construction phases over a long period. The aim is to contextualise the construction of the tribune, with its chapels frescoed by Allegretto Nuzi, in the very complex events of a long and difficult building site and to identify the architectural models of a medieval building almost completely ignored by historiography because it was greatly transformed in the following centuries. Using traditional investigative tools (archive research, stratigraphic analysis of the building) and the methodology of digital humanities, the essay proposes a new dating of the building phases: the first Romanesque building in the mid-11th century, a Gothic phase in the mid-13th century, a 3rd one in the mid-14th century, a 4th one in the 15th century and a final one in the 17th-18th centuries.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
