Since the second half of the last century, imaging techniques based on the absorption or scattering of cosmic ray muons, also referred to as “muography”, have been developed and successfully applied in a wide variety of fields. This work explores muography applications in the steel industry and nuclear safeguards through the BLEMAB (BLast furnace stack density Estimation through on-line Muon AB- sorption measurements) and the MUTOMCA (MUon TOMography for shielding CAsks) projects, showcasing the relevance of these tech- niques in facing challenges arising in these sectors nowadays. Regard- ing the BLEMAB project, an insight into the experimental apparatus and the Monte Carlo simulations will be provided. Similarly, for the MUTOMCA project, a comprehensive overview will be presented, cov- ering the development of the detector, the reconstruction algorithms and the Monte Carlo simulations. In addition, the first preliminary experimental results will be illustrated.
