In 1918 the Moscow Film Committee commissioned Bely to pro duce the film adaptation of his masterpiece Petersburg. It is known that the screenplay was written by Bely, but the writer never mentioned it and the text was lost. Today it is kept in the collection of D. Bogomilsky, collaborator of the Krug publisher, at the Russian State Library (RGB). The final part of the manu script has been lost. This work examines the development of the bomb theme, the leitmotiv of the novel, in the screenplay. Based on a comparison with the novel, it can be seen that the main facts related to the theme are represented in the film adaptation. In particular, two of the eight drawings by Bely contained in the screenplay, used to represent the theme of the bomb, are taken into consideration
