Un manifesto per la metafilosofia

In this article I develop a first attempt at a "manifesto" for metaphilosophy. My aim is to show the relevance of metaphilosophical enquiry, stressing its importance for a more conscious and responsible philosophical activity. I outline my argument in three steps. 1) First, I argue that metaphilosophy has real consequences in terms of shaping concepts, knowledges, social and epistemic relations. This point will be made explicit through the analysis of the relationship between (meta)philosophical assumptions and implemented philosophical practices. 2) Next, following Kristie Dotson, I will argue that an advantage of metaphilosophy is the possibility of conceiving philosophy (or philosophies) in terms of projects that involve the unity of theory and praxis. 3) Lastly, I will highlight the political value of metaphilosophy by dwelling on the question of method.
