It is established that the second Resian Catechism, dated 1797, is based on a Friulian source text, the Ristret des primariis instruzions from 1772. The Resian translation follows the original text quite faithfully, with only a few misunderstandings and errors. It is incomplete, however. Having obtained a termine post quem for the Resian text, written in the local dialect of Gniva, the historical analysis of the dialect now has a firm point of orientation.
