At the end of the 19th century, an Early Iron Age cemetery was discovered at Baldaria di Cologna Veneta (VR). Among the confusingly collected materials are also two belt plates whose typology refers to Villanovan models. This contribution deals with these strong identitarian artefacts, in order to reconstruct any mobility phenomena linked to them. The Baldaria belts are examined from two aspects: the technique of their production, i.e. based on the presence or absence of embossed elements, and their iconography. By analysing the diffusion of specimens comparable with those from Baldaria from other areas of the Italian peninsula and from Tyrol, it is possible to formulate several hypotheses regarding the origin of the belts found in the site. Thus, it is possible to rethink the role of Baldaria within the ecosystem of long-range exchanges between the Alpine area, the Veneto plain and central Italy in the Early Iron Age.
