During the Early Modern Age, despite the challenges put in place by the opening of new global routes, the Mediterranean and the Venetian Republic continued to play a pivotal role in the economic and commercial scenario. Foreign merchants, with their professional skills and connections, had a decisive importance in these processes of progressive integration.
