Since the 1980s, with the rise of temporary exhibitions, the development of preventive conservation and the professionalization of management, the transport of works has become a major concern for heritage professionals. In the continuity of research on the "little hands" of heritage and their role in the life of collections, at the crossroads of pragmatic sociology and the anthropology of science and technology, this account is that of an ordinary convoying, the return of three works from the National Museum of Modern Art from the Venice Biennale in 2017. Based on the memories of the courier and the internal documentation, it highlights what happens at each stage of the transport. By showing that the works mobilise a whole ecology, made up of the people who accompany them, the tools and materials needed to move them, and the documents that trace their movements, this account participates in writing a situated history of the globalisation of art.

Abstract
Since the 1980s, with the rise of temporary exhibitions, the development of preventive conservation and the professionalization of management, the transport of works has become a major concern for heritage professionals. In the continuity of research on the "little hands" of heritage and their role in the life of collections, at the crossroads of pragmatic sociology and the anthropology of science and technology, this account is that of an ordinary convoying, the return of three works from the National Museum of Modern Art from the Venice Biennale in 2017. Based on the memories of the courier and the internal documentation, it highlights what happens at each stage of the transport. By showing that the works mobilise a whole ecology, made up of the people who accompany them, the tools and materials needed to move them, and the documents that trace their movements, this account participates in writing a situated history of the globalisation of art.Pubblicazioni consigliate
