Language Policy as a voice of the University of Padova Language Centre

Abstract: The recent and rapid shift in the last 20 years towards internationalisation in Higher Education (HE) has profoundly influenced all aspects of academic life. Whether this influence has brought about the expected changes and predicted benefits is often discussed at the level of university governance, however University Language Centres are rarely invited to the discussion table. This short paper considers the involvement of the University of Padova Language Centre in one important element of the process of internationalisation in HE, that is the role and scope of a language policy (LP).
