Sessualità , liminalità e "lavoro di confine": il caso dell'esperienza bisessuale

Using the concepts of "liminality", "borderwork" and "sexual script", this study analyzes from a sociological point of view the case of bisexual experience a paradigmatic case which exposes the social processes of dichotomization and structuration in the gendered organization of sexuality and in the social organization of sexual identities. After a theoretical discussion of the role of sexuality in modernity and postmodernity and of the evolution of the interpretative models of the modern desiring subjects, the study analyzes 26 in-depth interviews to subjets with bisexual experience, focusing on the topics of gender difference and sexual identity. In the conclusions I discuss how the subjects with bisexual experience cross the borders of the social structure of sexuality confirming and strengthening the borders or, to the contrary, de-structuring and modifying them.
