Listening is a person’s fundamental dimension and represents the assumption of every authentic human relationship. However, in the complex context of today’s society, chances of listening, dialogue and silence often fail, while interpersonal relationship, if on the one hand is made easier by the technological development, on the other, ends with being impoverished by a culture that supports the supremacy of possessing over being. This contribute analyses the theme of listening through different perspectives, with the exhortation to open themselves to other people and to let themselves be looked into reciprocally. The vital and ever-changing horizon of meeting and of human expressiveness emerges from verbal aspects to not verbal ones, from listening to themselves to an emphatic welcome to other people.
