Preventive archaeological investigations to the construction of a public parking in Gardolo di Mezzo in Trento have brought to light a cremation necropolis with seven burial mounds dating back to the final phases of the Bronze Age and related to Phase A of the Luco/Laugen Culture. The finds brought to light include ornamentals in glass and metal showing significant contacts with the central-eastern Po Valley. The excavation sector, called Garm 7, is part of an important and extensive archaeological area initially investigated in 2003, where evidence of funerary and metal primary production was brought to light as well as settlement and cult structures dating back to the early phases of the Copper Age and the Recent Bronze Age (Garm 1-6 sectors). The reasons for this long human occupation are to be found primarily in the strategic location of the site, along the left side of the great route of the Adige Valley and at the access to a communication network with the eastern Trentino. The latter acquired a primary importance for the exploitation of mineral resources since the earliest phases of the metallurgical activity.
