In the last years of the Weimar Republic, Schmitt carried out an intense research and public activity in favor of a conservative reading of the Constitution. He proposed to remove the influence of parties and interest groups on the government and to strengthen its power through the use of Article 48 of the Constitution. The note reconstructs this reflection, with particular reference to the essay "Zur politischen Situation in Deutschland", placing Schmitt’s reflection within the complex constitutional debate of the time.
