The turn of the 21st century was marked by the emergence of a new, unprecedented cultural interpretation of the social context, characterised by the accelerated experiencing and apprehension of new trends. The aim of this article is to discuss the connection between body and digital media, by recalling the theoretical path that goes from the idea that the body was totally disconnected from computer mediated communication to the contemporary concepts of the quantified self. The article will touch the main theoretical frameworks, useful for those who begin their research in the field, allowing them to overcome a deterministic approach and to use the instruments that come from sociology, media studies and cultural studies.

Abstract
The turn of the 21st century was marked by the emergence of a new, unprecedented cultural interpretation of the social context, characterised by the accelerated experiencing and apprehension of new trends. The aim of this article is to discuss the connection between body and digital media, by recalling the theoretical path that goes from the idea that the body was totally disconnected from computer mediated communication to the contemporary concepts of the quantified self. The article will touch the main theoretical frameworks, useful for those who begin their research in the field, allowing them to overcome a deterministic approach and to use the instruments that come from sociology, media studies and cultural studies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
