L’università costruisce la città. Padova dal “Campus diffuso” alla Rete urbana

On June 2017, the University of Padua and the Ministry of Defense signed the agreement for the assignation to the University of the former Piave Barracks for converting it into a new “campus”.It was the last act of the University of Padua reorganization strategy over the last few years, which through purchasing of existing (disused or abandoned) areas or acquisition of new free surfaces will lead to a complete arrangement of the university localizations in the city. Furthermore, according to recent studies held by the author, University determines changes of commuters and customers flows within the city, new activities and functions, economic and social revitalization, also triggering transformation of the real estate market (sensitive to the students demand).
