Polarity is the necessary connection and the mutual dependence of two opposing principles, phenomena, terms or concepts. Unlike simple dualism, polarity implies a condition of complementarity between opposites, such that each of the two poles, although limited by the other, also finds its reason and its constitutive foundation in the other.
