This article presents a new, different view on the most problematic scene appearing on the famous Tintinnabulum of the so-called ‘Tomba degli Ori’ (c. 630-620 bc) of the Military Arsenal cemetery of Bologna. The discussion focuses on the recognition of a technical step in which women are working at a warping apparatus. The proposed interpretation solves some of the questions so far pending, and perfectly matches with the hypothesis that the chaîne opératoire of textiles making, on this artifact, is faithfully illustrated step by step. We also take into account some possible social implications of the Tintinnabulum and its iconographic program, when considered in this new light.
